Osteopathy
Osteopathy was founded in 1874 by Andrew Taylor Still, M.D. As a forward thinker of his time, his skills and philosophy were in high demand. Foremost is the understanding that healing comes from within. The whole person naturally strives to maintain health and harmony. The role of the physician is to find health, and provide support and guidance for optimal well-being.
We thank William G. Sutherland, D.O. for his contributions in the cranial field. Dr. Sutherland had been a student of Dr. Still’s and furthered osteopathy greatly with his teachings and research on the osteopathic cranial concept and primary respiration.
Much like ancient systems of healthcare, osteopathic medicine is inspired by the order of nature. Incorporating our environment, nutrition and lifestyle seamlessly with the benefits of state of the art technology is a hallmark of modern osteopathy.
A.T. Still, M.D., D.O. opened the first school of osteopathic medicine in 1892 in Kirksville, Missouri. A.S.O., the American School Of Osteopathy, has since grown to A.T.S.U., and encompasses campuse in Kirksville and Mesa, Arizona. There are schools throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan today. For generations, osteopathic physicians have been sought after worldwide to provide holistic healthcare.
