Dr. Maria Coffman

Dr. Maria Coffman

A 1995 graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Coffman has experienced an osteopathic medical career that resembles a jungle hike through the mountains emerging on clear sparkling shores. Her early career focused on emergency medicine and further developed her resourceful nature and acute care skills. In 2001, she founded Hands On Health Osteopathic Medicine and began to treat the chronic effects of injury and illness while continuing to transform the practice to include prevention of both acute and chronic health concerns. Careful to incorporate intuition into every step, Dr. Coffman accepted the notion to write and illustrate for others what she has been treating and teaching for several decades.

A mom of 3, she loves keeping up with one very fast teen, two self-sufficient young adults, and energy-filled grandchildren. She and her husband, David, live in Missouri where they nibble wild-picked edibles and other tasty things.

You can find her relaxing with art, acroyoga, grandchildren, and being in nature, preferably all at the same time.

Praise for Booby Traps

“Dr. Coffman’s writing style hits the target with the ability to engage and entertain readers from high school-age to her medical and osteopathic colleagues. I loved sharing this with my daughters!”

Lisa Brice, LCSW

“Very well written book about health problems associated with the restrictions of bras on women’s torso, lymph systems, energy flow, respiration, organ displacement and more. Very nice writing style with stories and research information too. Humorous as well. A good read that’s informative.”

Artie Lynnworth, author of Slice the Salami; Tips for Life and Leadership

Wow, this is such an enlightening book! The author takes a deep dive into the subject of bras, providing the historical context of the cultural journey from corsets to the present day burgeoning bra industry, along with its inevitable pitfalls both structurally and health-wise. Gratefully she also presents several viable alternatives and resources that are easy to research and implement. I learned so much! Be prepared to consider things most people don’t–the energetic and even psychological implications of bra wearing, complete with a thorough review of anatomy along with tips on measuring and determining our individual body’s needs. The author has a delightful way of storytelling and sharing her secrets based on her many experiences as a physician. Gold nuggets through and through. And the title is SO clever!!!
